As the autumn wind drifts across the coast of Keelung and the sun glows over the waves, Heping Island Geopark is ready to welcome one of the year’s most anticipated cultural events — the Island Life Festival 2025.
Hosted by the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration , the festival will take place on October 18–19 (Sat–Sun) under the theme “Island Connections.”
This year’s edition transforms the geopark into a stage for international exchange — a place where music, cuisine, and creativity from Taiwan and across Asia intertwine. For two unforgettable days, visitors can stroll the beach, enjoy live music, explore Asian markets, and savor a sunset BBQ by the sea.
Highlights of the Island Life Festival 2025
🎶 Island Opening：Cross-Border Music under the Stars
At sunset, the Island Opening concert will set the festival in motion with an incredible lineup of Asian artists.
The beach stage will feature Lola Amour, the Philippines’ genre-bending indie band known for fusing funk, rock, and pop with everyday storytelling. From Korea, Jacqui — nominated for the 16th Golden Indie Music Awards (Asian Creative Music Award) with her single “Dirty Mirror Selfie” — will deliver a soulful performance.
They’ll be joined by Taiwan’s vibrant indie acts: 河豚子, Skip skip ben ben, 憂憂, and Cold Dew, all bringing distinct voices that blend modern sounds with local flavor. As the tide rolls in and the night deepens, the stage will glow with rhythm, laughter, and the sound of waves — creating an unforgettable autumn night by the sea.
🏝 Island Market：
POPUPASIA® × Fun Market Present 40+ Creative Brands from Across Asia
This year’s Island Market brings together POPUPASIA® and Fun Market in a collaboration that turns the geopark into an open-air cultural bazaar. Over 40 brands and creators will join the event, showcasing everything from design and handicrafts to island-inspired delicacies.
Visitors can discover Keelung’s emerging local designers, specialties from Taiwan’s outlying islands, and a vibrant mix of Asian handmade goods. Featured Thai brands include Milala Handmade, Feel Youth, and Duang.Kham, each representing the artistry and warmth of Southeast Asia.
Food lovers can also look forward to authentic Vietnamese flavors from Mrs. Yue, whose home-style dishes bring comfort and spice to the seaside air.
With the scent of handmade soaps, desserts, and coffee mingling in the breeze, the Island Market invites everyone to slow down, explore, and enjoy the creative rhythm of island life.
🔥 Sea BBQ Night：Savor Sustainability under the Sunset
As evening falls, the Sea BBQ Night lights up the shoreline with a celebration of flavor and sustainability. Partnering with international outdoor grill brand O-GRILL, the festival introduces low-smoke, eco-friendly grills paired with fresh local ingredients to create a “green dining” experience by the ocean.
Picture this: golden twilight reflecting off the waves, laughter rising from groups of friends, and the aroma of grilled seafood filling the air. It’s not just a BBQ — it’s a sustainable feast that celebrates togetherness, nature, and the essence of “Island Connections.”
📸 Winter Lens：Capturing the Poetry of Keelung’s Winter Light
The festival doesn’t end with the music.
From November 1 (Sat) to November 16 (Sun), the Winter Lens program continues the celebration through photography.
Domestic and international photographers will take residence at Heping Island, documenting the island’s unique winter seascape — from misty mornings to glimmering sunsets.
Their works will later be showcased through an online public voting event, allowing visitors to help select the “Best Winter Moment of Heping Island.”
For art lovers, it’s not just an exhibition — it’s a chance to rediscover the quiet beauty and rhythm of island life through the lens of the ocean.
🌏 Island Connections：
A Dialogue between Culture, Sustainability, and the Sea
According to North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration, this year’s theme — “Island Connections” — goes beyond geography. It symbolizes how the festival connects the ocean with the land, and Taiwan’s local culture with neighboring regions such as Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. From indigenous traditions to international creativity, Island Life Festival celebrates shared values of sustainability, diversity, and community.
To help visitors travel with ease, shuttle buses will operate between Keelung Train Station and Heping Island Geopark. For those driving, designated parking and traffic guidance will be available.
It’s an open invitation to step away from the city, breathe in the sea breeze, and experience an autumn weekend that’s both international and down-to-earth.
Notably, Heping Island Geopark is the first national scenic area in Taiwan certified under ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse Gas Inventory, showing its long-term commitment to environmental sustainability — the perfect setting for a “green” cultural celebration.
